Come Get Some! | Duke Nukem by Urbanator Come Get Some! | Duke Nukem by Urbanator
After so many years of waiting, if only Duke Nukem Forever had been like this. :'(

Regardless of what people thought about DNF, you can't deny they got the alien's spot on.
Having played the hell out of Duke Nukem 3D in the past, I couldn't resist not doing an action
scene of Duke facing off against his alien foes. I had trouble deciding who to use as Duke's
main nemesis in this scene, but in the end I stuck with the awesome Cycloid Emperor.

Duke's pose was primarily inspired by Max Payne, having just recently played one and two
for the first time. Very good stuff!

I also threw Sonya Blade from Mortal Kombat into the fray. Originally I was going to have her
fight alongside Duke, but in the end I implemented her into the role of 'damsel in distress'.
Pretty sure she'd lay the smack dab on that Enforcer any second though. ;P

Rendered in SFM, edited via Photoshop.

"Damn I'm Good"

"I'm Duke Nukem and I'm coming to get the rest of you alien bastards"

I enjoyed DNF for what it was even though it was a let down

In the words of Duke Nukem: "Holy cow!" :D lol

Seriously, I didn't think DNF was THAT bad. Yes, the women in DNF were mostly ditzy sluts but that's not much different than how sexual DN3D was... I mean c'mon, the women in that game were strippers, a hooker in a bar, damsels tied up in alien goo (Which Duke doesn't rescue), a random cave dancer, and cheerleaders in the middle of Duke's battle with the Cycloid Emperor. All DNF does is go one step further as it's a sequel... My biggest annoyance was the recharging health (Which they tried to justify calling it his Ego) and the fact he can bench press 600 lbs but he couldn't carry more than 2 guns... Granted there's an update where you can fix that 2nd problem. I think DNF is far from perfect but it's not the crappiest game I ever played. Just surprised about people razzing it's adult themes and all the sexual content, I have to wonder if those complaints came from people who played DN3D... :?

As for Sonya Blade being the damsel in distress... I can totally see that! I mean think of that scene in the movie where Shang Tsung just totally grabs her and drags her off to Outworld. For those that hated the MK movie: The same thing happens in the game! That's why in Mortal Kombat 2 and in the story mode of Mortal Kombat (2011) you see her tied up in Shao Kahn's gladiator-like Colosseum arena. So yeah, I can totally see her being one of the helpless Duke Nukem babes. ;)

Overall, AWESOME work. Very nicely done. Gotta favorite this!

It wasn't so much the themes that I felt negatively
towards, but the gameplay. DN3D just felt so much
more satisfying, the level designs were superior in
every sense, the combat was solid and the humour
was better imo. That's my vibes. Not enough massive
scale fights like in DN3D.

But the enemy designs in DNF were excellent, staying
very true to its predecessor in most ways. When they
upgraded to 4 guns, that was better, but give Duke
all the guns - he needs a whole lotta firepowar dat boi. :V

Thanks! I'm glad you like this! :D

DN3D's levels were larger and took more time to beat, and the graphics in DN3D were great for the time... Will give the game that. DNF (In my opinion) was just made too late, the weapon limitations and recharging health, linear levels, that's almost every FPS game now sadly. If 3d Realms got off their butts and released it around the same time as Doom 3, I don't think it would've been as bad as it turned out in 2011.

But nah, I don't think it's bad... Not awesome but not the total crapfest a lot of people made it out to be... I just hope when I make the Duke Nukem series (Including the classic platform games) into Wolf3d mods, they will be received with better reception. :)

Yeah agreed, it didn't deserve the severe lashing it got,
but it could have been so much more.
